new additions...

Since the last time I blogged, several things have happened. My cousin Leah got married and started a new job. The wedding was beautiful and they both looked so happy!

There was also a baby shower for one of my newest cousins, Erin and Tryon's baby Katherine.

She is adorable!

Congratulations to the Benedicks on their newest addition and my brand new cousin Jayle Jean! I can wait to meet her!

We are also anxiously awaiting for the arrival of my newest niece- Tim and Heidi's little girl!!

Karen and I are planning on flying out in December from the 25-29th to meet her! I'm so excited and can hardly wait for December to get here!!

Daily life for Jon and I is same ol same ol. Jon is still working like crazy- 14 hrs a day- 7 days a week. We celebrated his 31st birthday the end of last month!

Jon picked up a new addition to our household last week. Jon found him on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere and we've adopted him! We named him Gunner. Lycan and Zeva are finally getting used to him. I think that Lycan is sometimes glad to have someone more lively to play with!

Last week, Jon actually got to take off work by 6pm so we could take the kids to the carnival at the fair. They had a really good time. Harley and Jon won an iguana which was dead within a week. I was reading on the internet to try and figure out what they eat and they are finicky little eaters. They like fresh veggies and won't eat the same thing twice in a row! But they are tropical reptiles, so Jon thinks that it got too cold, not that he starved by not eating what was set out for him.

I am half way through clinicals and can hardly believe it has gone by so quickly, but at the same time, I'm ready to be finished.
For several reasons, I have chosen not to pursue mammography. Mammo class was last week in Hays so my partner in crime, Chantelle, was gone last week. It was a bit of a rough week with crabby techs and rude doctors however it was a good way to practice good patient care even when everything else in the department is unpleasant.

Our clinical instructor put in her two weeks notice and has her last day this Wed. They have already chosen someone to take her place and finish out our clinical year so it will be interesting to see how things will change. I believe it will work out for the best. Our current instructor hasn't really been fulfilling her duties.

I am going home this weekend to have a roofing party with Karen, Mom and Dad! It will be nice to see them again! I guess that's all I have for now... till next time, take care!

1 semester down...

Hello! I figured since 4 months have gone by since my last post, it might be a good idea to put up a new one...

I have finished my 1st semester of clinicals and had a week of break before starting back up this last week. I am really enjoying clinicals know I have chosen the right career. I am thinking about specializing in radiation therapy, which would require 1 additional year of school once I've graduated, but have not decided for sure. However, I do plan on taking boards for mammography and CT and possibly MRI. If I do go into radiation therapy, I will be giving treatments to cancer patients.

Jon has been EXTREMELY busy this last month with the irrigation end of the business. They recently sold 5 new systems and with this last batch of t-storms and tornados, had 5 more systems to be replaced or repaired in addition to their regular service work. He has been working 13 hrs a day/7days a week for the last 2-3 weeks. I am anxious for him to get a break!

Harley finally graduated kindergarten this year and is on to 1st grade! He will be in special ed next year and hopefully that will help him.
Haleigh is done with preschool and will begin kindergarten next year. They are excited that school is out for summer! Harley has been going with Jon to work on our weekends and can't wait till he is old enough to drive the skid steer.

Jon's dad, Rick, has unexpectedly come and visit me in the hospital a couple of times so I could give him a chest x-ray... He had been having some chest pains and got a helecopter ride to Wichita where they did a procedure called "TMR" where they bore holes in his heart with a laser to allow collateral veins to grow in and take over to restore blood flow to the heart. He has a clogged stent, but the one that is clogged is right underneath the main blood supplier, so the cardiac surgeon didn't want to mess with it, which ruled out the bypass and heart cath options. He has been out of the hospital for almost a month now and has been recovering well.

This last weekend I went home for my cousin Leah's graduation from K-State on Sat and her and her fiancee' Alex's wedding shower on Sun.
It was wonderful to see everyone. I finally got to meet my new little cousin Caleb- Kristen and Cory's little baby. It's hard to believe he's already 7 mo old! He is such a happy and smiley little guy and was trying so hard to crawl. He is so close. He was rolling all over the floor to get where he wanted to go! It is neat to watch Kristen and Cory with him. I was sad to hear that my sister Angel, Nathan & Hannah were not able to come, as they were all fighting the stomach flu, but I'm just glad they are feeling better now and look forward to seeing them in June for Leah & Alex's wedding. My cousins Yachal and Rowdy were also unable to attend as they were fighting bronchitis. Lorrie however, was able to be there and it was nice to see her too. She is looking wonderful with her 2nd pregnancy.
Leah and Alex are such a cute couple! It is hard for me to believe that Leah is old enough to be graduating college and getting married! We had a good turn out for the shower-we barely had enough chairs! They got a lot of nice stuff and I think everyone had a nice time. I didn't get to visit with everyone near as much as I'd like to have, but hopefully in June there will be more time. i'm anxious to meet my newest little cousin Katherine- Erin & Tryon's new little girl. I've only seen pictures, but she looks precious!!
Jon and I's 2nd anniversary is tues!! Jon has too many things going on at the shop to go anywhere, but our plan is to go to Steamboat Springs, CO in December to celebrate before i go back for classes in Jan. I'm excited! We are going to attempt to learn how to ski!

Well, I believe that catches the main points for now, I will hopefully have my next post in june with pics on Leah and Alex's wedding! Take care!

FINALLY! A new post!

WOW! A new post on the Walker's blog! Can you believe it?
Well, a lot has happened in the 8 months between posts so instead of writting a novel i will sum up the main events & post
lots of pictures.
Since September I have finished the 1st part of my schooling and started my year long clinicals at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. Dad helped us move to Great Bend over the Christmas break and I started at the hospital in January. I am really enjoying it.

Jon has been keeping busy with his work at the shop and with trying to keep the new house warm by improving on the draft problem. Though it is chilly we like the new house and the cats do as well. It is more open and therefore, wider area to run. I must say that they have NOT been helpful by tearing up the plastic we put on the windows...

In December, Karen graduated from Newman Unversity with her Masters in ESL. The whole family got together to celebrate her awesome accomplishment!

Since Tim & Heidi flew in for Karen's graduation,
we celebrated Christmas together at the hotel in Wichita. It was a really fun time and it was so wonderful to have the family together! Even Notebook Man made it!

Tim & Heidi had a special announcement...they're expecting!! A new niece/nephew! We are so happy and excited for them! It is just baby season in the family with Lorrie and Yachal expecting their 2nd and Erin & Tryon also expecting their 1st!

We had Christmas Eve with the kids and went to Jon's dads to celebrate with that side of the family. It was a nice time and even the cats had something to open.

They got a new toy that Lycan enjoys but Zeva likes Haleigh's princess tent a little more I think...

Harley is in wrestling this year. It is his 1st year so he is still learning but I think he enjoys it. He is all smiles out there chasing the other the kid in the ring.

Hopefully everyone had a nice holiday and are all staying well. We are doing well, just busy.

I am learning alot at the hospital and my fellow Great Bend student,Chantelle and I really get along and I'm glad that we are working together.
I am hoping that my next blog won't be 8 months from now...but until next time take care!
