Our family is happy and healthy and excited for what 2010 brings.
My sister Karen has met a wonderful man Joe, and they plan to marry in November of this year! I am so extremely excited for them. Over Spring Break, we were fortunate enough to have all the bridal party together in Topeka to go dress shopping with Karen. It was fun to see her in all the white gowns and know that she is going to make a beautiful bride. Though I've only met Joe face-to-face one time, I've been delighted to see that he can be as dorky and playful as the rest of us- as was evident in an exclusive infomercial he starred in, which was filmed in Dodge City. :)
My mom has been helping out Jon and his brothers with the finances and taxes of their irrigation shop. Unfortunately, times are tough and they have made the decision to close their doors and sell everything. It will take a few months to wrap everything up, but they've had several farmers and businesses interested in buying a majority of their inventory and property. Though it was a rough decision, it is also a blessing. Once the shop closes, Jon will be moving down here with me and has already accepted a job in Hugoton at Superior Irrigation which is the Reinke dealer for this area. They will be leasing his truck for a few months until they purchase a new truck for him to work with. They were very excited to have him join their team! His brothers have a few job prospects as well, which makes it a lot easier to move on.
So now we are the hunt for a larger house. As of right now, I have a small 2 bedroom house in Satanta, but we'd like to find at least a 3 bedroom so the kids can have their own rooms when they are here. However I am finding that housing options are a bit limited out here. And to limit our options even more- because I am on-call, I have to be within a 15 mile radius of the hospital. It would be ideal to find something in the country between Hugoton and Satanta so we can split our drives, but we'll have to just wait and see what God brings our way.
I hope to have some potential houses to look at next week, as Jon is coming down here for my birthday.
I hope that you all had a blessed Easter. We had a wonderful weekend. We had the kids and they went for a Easter egg hunt in Seward along with their cousin Kaden on Saturday, while Jon, Matt and Leo finished putting a new roof on Rick's garage. The kids and I made sugar cookies Saturday night and then Haleigh and I made homemade heart-shaped biscuits and gravy for breakfast Sunday. We had family dinner at Rick's and another egg hunt for all the cousins in his backyard after lunch. We had a good time visiting with everyone.
Jon's family is sad that he is moving 2 hrs away but most of them are coming around. We remain focused- as many have had differing opinions about Jon and I's decisions concerning jobs and living situations over the years. All we can do is trust in God's guidance and know that he will bring us through all situations we face. We are looking forward to this new chapter.
